Drum Major: Gene Hultquist Sergeant-at-A rms : David Williams At Reagan is found one of the oldest and most honored bands in the state. When organized in 1929, the band was a military unit composed of boys. Under the direc- tion of Leslie Kohlman, Mrs. 0. W. Bogard, Charles Lindsey, Jay M. Brandstetter, and John Robbins, the band has grown and improved. This year the marching band boasts 132 members. There are many factors which contribute to the high distinction of the band. Among these are the accomplishments in the past with support from the student body and Boosters, Club. Some activities in which the band participates include the Uni- versity of Houston Band Day, marching contests, music festivals, parades, the May Fete, graduation exercise, and taking part in all Reagan football games. Each year many band students enter the solo and ensemble contests held annually by the Texas lnterseholastic League. Also, every year we are privileged to have many of our students win positions in the All-City and All-State Bands and the Youth Symphony. A high standard of performance is maintained at all times.

When Reagan opened in the fall of 1928, there came to the school an organized orchestra from Heights High. Through the years it has been molded by Mr. John Robbins and other fine men like him into an outstanding musical group. The various activities that the orchestra participates in during the course of the year are the May Fete festival, the Honor Society formal initiation, and Mid-term graduation exercises. Various members of the orchestra have received honors outside school activities, such as participating in the All-City Orchestra, All-State and Texas Music Education Association orchestras and many others throughout the city, state, and country.
