The National Honor Society was originated by the Department of Secondary School Principals of the National Education Association in 1919. The main purpose of the organization is to encourage high standards of scholar- ship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in the students of Reagan High School. Student members of the Honor Society are given preference in the leading univer sities and colleges throughout the United States. The Reagan Chapter was organized during the spring semester of 1935, the charter being granted on April 8, 1935.
