The members learn of the things a teacher may expect when he enters the professiong and while a student in Reagan, he may take on some tasks that will give him practice on the things that will be required of him. Many members assist teachers during enrollment or act as sub- stitutes in the absence of teachers. 'nu ml! 1 in sum 5 u 1111111 in

Wfhen organized some thirty years ago, the band was a military unit composed of boys. Under the direction of Leslie Kohlman, Mrs. O. W. Bogard, Charles Lindsey, jay M. Brandstetter, and john Robbins, the Band has grown and improved. There are many factors which contribute to the high distinction of the band. Among these are the accomplishments in the past with support from the student body and Boosters Club. Some activities in which the band participates include Rice's first home football game, marching contests, music festivals, the May Fete, graduation exercises, and tal-:ing part in all Reagan football games. Last year the band was invited to hear the United States Marine Band and to play for the All'City Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Harry Robert XVilson from Columbia University. Also, every year we are privileged to have many of our stu- dents win positions in All-State Band and the Youth Symphony.
