Carolyn Thomas, PRESIDENT, Phil Smith, VICE PRESIDENT, Judy Williams, SECRETARY Augusta Koonce, CORRESPONDING SECRETARY, Rolfe Johnson, TREASURER, Pat Brown REPORTER, Richard Caldwell, EXTEMP DELEGATE. REAGAN SPE KERS FORUM The Speaker's Forum is composed of members of the Extemp and Debate classes under the capable leadership of Mr. J. R. Pappy Holcomb. The students in this organization participate in many programs and tournaments during the year. Various awards are made at tournaments. Individual winners are given medals, while the debate teams are awarded trophies, which they in turn present to the school. Each time the students take part in some program or tournament they acquire points toward membership in a nation-wide speech organization, the National Forensic League. To help finance the out-of-town speech tournaments, the Speaker's Forum for the past two years has presented Forum Follies, This has been the first variety show of the year, and we hope to make it an annual proiect. The show has been worth the work put into it, especially this year, for one of Reagan's girls debate teams has won tour trophies in attending five tournaments. Many benefits are gained from participation in the speech activities. A greater knowledge of current events and government help not only in every day life, but in such classes as civics and history. From the social aspect, tournaments provide an excellent opportunity to meet new people and make friends from schools all over Texas and even from other states such as New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Missouri. 1.6 L VWQIHQ
