x nn To the Class of 1953: so I congratulate you upon finishing your high school course and for the splendid manner in which you have conducted yourselves as citizens of John H. Reagan High School. It is well that we pause in gratitude for the elemental. things that we have long taken for granted, for example, our public school system of which you have been a benefactor, and for the fact that in this country a boyls life or a girlls life is still his own to command, rather than a unit of personality to be held forthe huge and horrible exigency of a national conflict. Being grateful for these facts, we should he mindful of a correlative: that is, that every privilege carries a like responsibility. No matter what happens or what changes may take place in our political, economic, or social order, new choices in the field of possibilities are ines- capable. ln any event, it will be your responsibility to turn the present scene, whatever it may be, to noble and constructive ends. Always remember that Cod will never destroy your plans, but that He may often lead you to modify them. ' H. H. WILLIAMS it i A , ij. ,AU his qi' lv K , it i-is i w 5 215, , 5: xlk 5 NK if it
