. . Throw a Goal for Reagan f f f The 1939'-10 Reagan hasketlwall quintet placed fifth in the city hasketlaall race, winning live out of their twelve starts. Individual standouts were Pat McMichael, guard and captain, ,lack Dynamite Vxfagner, flashy little forward, and Tom Sinclair, tall forward. The Bulldogs hegan their season with a startling upset over Jeff Davis, shading the Panthers 21 to 19 but suffered a 10 to 40 defeat at the hands of Lamar. The Heights Quintet picked up a 31 to 25 victory over the San ,lacs but dropped their next to the lvlilby Buffs. The Reagan cagers retaliated with a 25 to 23 victory over the Austin aggregation but lost their next five tilts: to Sam Houston 23 to 23, Davis 19 to 40, to Lamar 20 to 31, to San Jacinto 20 to 40, and to Milby 'li to 28. The Bulldogs rallied in their last two games, and with the improved playing of Tom Sinclair, defeated Lamar 27 to 25 and Sam Houston 25 to '20 to end the season. -1 ., - -' 1-, , ' vt -

4 . Tennis Stars Crowd the Net f f f Reagan was represented in the tennis fray by Grover Noonan in the boys' singles and by Ted Norpoth and Billy Tabola in the doubles. Noonan represented Reagan in the city eliminations and was beaten 6f2, 6f4 by Sam Houston's representative. The 1940 Bulldog doubles' combination of Norpoth and Tabola competed seven times through the regional competition. Included in these tourneys were outfofftown meets: at Victoria, where the Reagan netters lost in the finals, at Beaumont, where the doubles' combination won 6f3, 6f1, and at Corpus Christi, where Tabola and Norpoth entered sepaf rately and each entered the finals, with Tabola taking the victor's laurels. The Bulldogs played their last practice sets at River Caks, where Norpoth lost in the finals and Tabola fell in the semifinals. The doubles' team entered official competition for the first time in the City Meet and won 6'2, 6f1, 6f3, and entered district competition, where they repeated to win 6fl, 6f3, 6f2. Their district victory led them to the Regional Meet, where they won 6f3, 6fO, 6f3. Then on to state f f f Noonan, Tabola and Norpoth will return next year. J 'W-,V 1 , .
