Time is the nurse and breeder of all good. Shakespeare See how the generations pass Like sand through Heaven ' s blue hourglass. Shantung FOREWORD Time and past War rentonians have made John Gra¬ ham students heirs to a challenging tradition of unusual community culture, personal integrity, and high ideals of scholarship and achievement. We would have the 1959-1960 Yearbook express many things: our awareness of our heritage, our grat¬ itude for traditions to respect and to uphold, and our consciousness of the value of our training here as a sound basis for our hope in a good future. The pull of sentiment is strong. We are tempted to call back yesterday and to bid time return as we see that One by one the sands are flowing, One by one the moments fall; Some are coming; some are going . . . And we cannot grasp them all! Following the motto of a quaint old English sundial, I record only sunny hours, we have chosen pictures and situations to express school spirit as we know it, and to record some of the happiest and best experiences of this school year. It is our sincere hope that as time transforms the sunny hours of our high school days into golden memo¬ ries, they may both be an inspiration for John Graham students - past, present, and future - and for others who may open the covers of this book.
