CLASS FLOWER Gardenia Mascots Ann Rooker James Stegall 16 Class History A whole new world opened up for the group that entered the first grade in 1946. The idea of becoming a Senior in high school seemed far off and of little importance to us. For eight years we pushed steadily forward and thought we would never reach the gateway to the world--the freshman year in high school. Finally the big day arrived! At last we were grown up and entering high school. While still in the eighth grade we had been joined by students from Afton-Elberon and now we were joined with new friends from Macon. Naturally all seventy-five of us were kidded about being green freshmen , but we took it in good grace and s t r u g g 1 e d on. Our home-room teachers were Miss Allen and Mrs. Martindale. In our second year of high school, we displayed less of the foolishness of youth and more of the wisdom of sophomores. Our freshman sponsors were promoted with us and soon our sophomore days were over and at last we were upper classmen. In the fall of 1956 we were full-fledged Juniors. Our great problem of raising money for our Junior-Senior Prom kept us busy most of the year, along with some classwork, of course. This event took place on May 3, 1957, at the Armory. The theme was Stardust. We came back to school in 1957 as forty -five dignified Seniors with Miss Allen and Mr. Swann as class advisors. We were really feeling as if we were sitting on top of the world. We got our class rings and with the help of the high school student body had a successful magazine campaign. Our Senior play was The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come, which was produced by Mrs. Martindale. As the time has come for us to say adieu and go out into the world, we feel a little sad at leaving, but sincerely proud that at least, the big moment has arrived. No matter where we go or what we do, the days spent at old J.G.H.S. will be anunforgetta- ble memory. Now it ' s time to go our separate ways And say farewell to our high school days. Sadness and sorrow dwell in our hearts As we realize that now we must part. We must say Good-by to each friend, And follow our goal to its end. We ' ve struggled and strived throughout the years, Through moments of joy, and moments of tears. Dear John Graham High, you helped us to do our best, And guided us higher on the road to success. Some of our happiest days have gone by, Many which we owe to our own John Graham High. Tho ' we had our problems, we had our fun, And now we realize our high school work is done. To our parents, and teachers we say Thank you , For all you ' ve aided and guided us through. No matter how far we go or what we do, There will be a place in our hearts for you. To all our classmates and friends, we say Good-by And leave to you the blessings of John Graham High, Knowledge has been given us to face life ' s goal, May we have wisdom for whatever the future may hold.
