Coming from Macon were twelve students to join the class of ‘56 and they were heartily welcomed by members of the class who were already a part of John Graham. Mrs. Leete and Miss Bullock were the homeroom teachers who patiently helped us, “little green freshmen”. We were especially interested in extra curricular activities, and many of us enjoyed participating in them immensely. The next year a greater number of us belonged to more clubs and activi¬ ties, but the senior s robbed us of one of our teachers, Mrs. Leete. Therefore, for two years we progressed under the Constance guidance of Miss Bullock. The work in our Junior year started off with a bang. Studying took up a great deal of our time , but we racked our brains and used plenty of elbow grease in making money for our Junior-Senior banquet and dance. On April 15, our purpose was accomplished when we gave a lovely Junior-Senior with the theme being “Moonlight and Roses . Music was furnished by a band from Wilson. The food was delicious and everybody had a good time. The Seniors said that it was wonderful. At the beginning of our senior year, when we moved into this important position, we could hardly believe it. There was so much to be done, and so many of these things created memories never to be forgotten. Our class rings were the prettiest ever to be, and we enjoyed compiling and editing our annual, “The Warrentonian”. Selecting our invitations and planning our graduation exercises were, of course, of supreme importance to us. Under the splendid guidance of Mrs. Nielsen we have accomplished many things during our last year in high school. Not only this year, but all the way through school, there have been many little stumbling blocks over which we had to climb, and most of the time we were fairly successful. In true appre¬ ciation to all those who have helped us along the way, we say from the bottom of our hearts, “thank you”. Mary Burwell Davis Historian Cast Will And Zest ament We, the Senior Class of John Graham High School, of the state of North C ar olina and the county of War ren, in this year of our Lord, nine¬ teen hundred and fifty-six, do leave John Graham behind as we face what we have obtained intel¬ lectually in the past twelve years. We do hereby declare this to be our last will and testament. Article I To our parents, teachers, and principal, we leave our sincere gratitude. Without their en¬ couragement and help, we would never have reached our goal. Article II To the Juniors, we leave the responsibility of setting an example for the rest of the students to follow and hope you will do as good a job as our class has. Juanita King Prophet Poem The time has come for us to part And tell our classmates good-by. We leave to all our friends The blessing of John Graham High. The happiest times of our lives Have been the days of our youth. Where we have enjoyed many pleasures And learned the value of truth. Our departure makes sadness prevail And adds sorrow to our heart. But our friendship will continue And nothing will keep us apart. We hope that we’ve all worked hard And done our very best. Because our utmost goal Is the goal of success. We thank our teachers and parents For their generous helping hand. They taught us how to learn And how to understand. A new and exciting life Will soon be drawing near. Let us be bold and courageous And face it without fear. As we leave our school May God be with us, For He is our guide And in Him shall we trust.
