Our horizons are expanding as we strive to bring our shows to more and more people. We ' ve had the fun of learning sign anguage so we can perform for deaf children and we thoroughly enjoyed our very full day with the special education school (our favorite people). Not only do we perform but we share their entire school day with them. We become big brother or sister to each child and are taken very good care of by them. These are only a few of the unforgettable moments for us. Truly a lesson in human relations but above all a lesson in caring. Aside from al the problems the staff was faced with, yearbook gave many students a chance to show real individuality Tracv was constantly saving, What are you doing? Lyle was always replying, What an editor is supposed to do! Maxine would then yell. I thought I was editor! , D.J. just yelling. Karol wisely announcing, I ' m not staying after school, I ' m organized! , and constantly being reminded of her statement at 10 p.m. while trying to finish a deadline. May was forced to make tough decisions, whether to work on sports or to plav Green Ghost! Of course not enough can be said about Myrna ' s vile jokes that kept everyone in stitches! Kim, Cindy, and Cheryl always being around when you were in dire need ot something typed or a cake baked. Melody, allias Speedracer, mumbling under her breath because she was deserted with the whole faculty section left to finish. Oscar showed much initiative when he arranged a fantastic raffle, but he forgot one detail, the prizes! Then there is our trusty photographer and lab technician Jean. Jean could never figure out why unfocused pictures develop fuzzy, but then Jean s always in the dark. Last, but not least, Dave and Stormie. Stormie was agreeable to everything. Dave was not so agreeable but did it anyway with a smile. I Today, local Jaycee chapters are active in over 6400 communities across America and in over 80 foreign countries. 1 Here are the main reasons why young men join the Jaycees: the desire for self-improvement. To learn how to accept responsibility, to make decisions, become effective speakers, learn management techniques, to be better employers, employees and citizens. the desire for community involvement. Each member is encouraged to come up with project ideas and to submit a proposal for carrying out a specific program. In this way, a member can develop his leadership abilities. Among the specific projects conducted by Jaycees in Norwalk are the city annual FaHJPestival, a Fourth of July Fireworks Show, the delivery of more than 1 .000 Christ mas stockings to local youngsters, the selection of an Outstanding Young Educator from this city, a Christmas party for the youngsters at the California Youth Authority and the sponsorship of a memorial fund for policemen slain in the line of duty. In between carrying out these community service projects, we enjoy fellowship with each other and our families at social functions for our members.
