J V v t? 10 (JciAJL T 0 jJL C When we were young in mind and body, we eagerly viewed the world around us as a laboratory of learning experiences. We used our senses to establish identity with an object through its smell, its shape, its texture, or its color. We were aware of our relationship to that object-to the effect it had on us and, in turn, the effect we could have by using the object to meet our own needs. COAX. tax-d • 1 1 Learning is a one-way street . . . your way. This is the simple philosophy of a complex man. The philosophy of a teacher. Mr. Gabriel Fernety is this kind of man. In a unique, unselfish manner, giving of himself daily, he strives for order amidst chaos. Counsel, advice, a bit of wit, and a word of wisdom are just a sampling of his varied qualities. Words cannot express our love for this man. He has given two of his most valuable attributes, the art of teaching, and most important . . . himself. r A V D O -N. • ' ' ). IS I :f £ ' 0 - The tracks of time Lay ahead Of us As we climb Aboard the train Which will lead Us into our near future. We search for a new world Remembering those times Behind us And looking forward .... To the long days ahead. We seek time to get away and to find the serenity of a quiet moment. We think of the years gone by and the treasured memories they have brought to us. As wind blows and time moves, so will the class of 1975 carrying on the works and traditions of yesterday. We ask ourselves where spirit has gone and maybe we should just open our eyes and bring our teams together. Girls ' CIF Tennis With a 5-2 record the Girl ' s Tennis Team went to C.I.F. this year. It started off with activities through the week and on to a sparkling assembly, best ever seen yet. The Senior Alumni Tea was as enjoyable as ever. From wagon racing to wagon napping Friday night became the high point of the week. Then the long awaited moment came when Princess Elsa Bruinsma was crowned Queen of Homecoming. After a victorious game came the late night dance with a band called Froggie . 88 HOMECOMING Homecoming This year ' s football team was one of great strength and endurance. Especially after so many disappointing defeats and injuries they still fought back. They went through rain, sleet, and HAIL out on the field for their fans. Spirit was low along with activities. When we did have assemblies they were usually very well planned and kept you interested. yfyV W VV jjoU-7 Spirit Week The 1973-74 Spirit Week was a week in which students were able to express the spirit and enthusiasm in which John Glenn has been longing for. The Pride of 74 led all classes in events won. Their energetic ability helped to win the Wheel Barrell Race, Three-legged Race and Trash Can Filling Contest. 98 ACTIVITIES o C U Q l M ,, v J , C t f com . The band Froggie made it a night to remember with music of yesteryear and with the many people who were there it turned out to be a great success. This year ' s Queens were Yolanda Musquiz and Cindy Triggs, 12th grade princess was Debbie Johnson, 11th grade princess was Kathy Minton, 10th grade princess was Tammy Golden, 9th grade princess was Mandy Diaz. Butterflies Are Free will go down in history as being a slightly unusual, but good production. They went through alot this season— like winning a game and then loosing the same game minutes later. They kept the crowd on their feet at all moments of the game. They are bridging a gap between reality and fantasy for children and are richly rewarded by happy cries and big bear hugs. This year they performed two smaller shows instead of one big one and it has proved to be a greater success. The first show w as The Fisherman and His Wife which included an enchanted flounder, a hen pecked husband, and his willful wife. The story is about greed and its evils. 122 ACTIVITIES ACTIVITIES 123 HENNY PENNY This years rendition of Henny Penny proved to be slightly unusual. This play concerns itself with the exploits of a chicken who likes her rock-n-roll, and enjoys tripping around her barnyard. One fine day something plunges from the heavens and knocks her on the head. This causes much confusion and sends her on an errand to find Kingy-poo (?) and announce the sky is falling. On the way she encounters her barnyard friends, Cocky Locky, Turkey Lurkey, Ducky Wucky, and Goosy Poosy. Suddenly Foxy Woxy pops out and convinces them to follow him and he winds up devouring them all except Henny Penny who in turn decides to lay her egg, But She never did tell the king the sky was falling!!! Keiko was born February 22, 1958 in Gunma, Japan. She lives with her father Michio Asami, her mother Yukeko Asami and sister Yuko Asami in a Shinto Village. She likes school and the people who go there. Her favorite subject is Math. With her great personality and ability to make friends Keiko learned the English language in no time at all. Early in the morning before school, she goes into the library and does some hardy studying. After school she plays tennis with the team at Glenn. This year Keiko went to the C.I F. Girls Tennis Finals at Marina H.S. in Huntington Beach. Her favorite color is light blue and she likes roaming around in T-shirts and pants. She gets great enjoyment out of drawing and playing the piano. We will all miss Keiko when she leaves, but we will not forget her. We have dedicated this page in her honor.
