Tennis coach, anyone??? t was September 20 1971- it was the night of the Billie Jean King vs. Bobby Riggs tennis match and all the world was watching. The question being asked Can a twenty-nine year old female tennis star who was at the peak of her career beat a fifty-five year old man who had been making fun of women second challenge. The first was an easy one. He totally humiliated his first opponent but Billie King was ready and very up for the occassion. Billie lean King easily disposed of her op onent beat- ing him in three straight matches. He even had to ta e a time out for a massage because his arms cram ed up. After the match Bobby Riggs barely had enough strengt to congratulate her. This victory gave a boost for women s tennis and it is important to point out that women can play just as well as men can. and their efforts to liberate themselves? Billie Jean King was his Tennis
