More time and effortnavlfas As editor of the 1988 Universe, I wantiitoiitakeis ft this opportunity to tell you a bit about the production of this yearbook. A i lt took 200 rolls of film, 2000 sheets of printing paper, 25 gallons of chemicals, and 500 hours of work to put together 2.04 pages of the 1988 Universe. Work on the book actually began in mid-summer when several members of the staff and the sponsor attended a summer session heldsby Josten's lnc. The theme for the book, '5ItffSeernsLike Yesterday, was suggested and adoptedattithis time. After the theme wasselected,ithe staff faced the dilemma of designing layouts, opening and closing sections, and division pages that would fit well with the theme. Further compounding the dilemma was the fact that this book was to be the twenty-fifth for the school. Naturally, as this is the silver anniversary of spent in the darkroom developing film andtprinting pictures, than was actually spent behind the lens. Fics tures are the heart of the book, and our crack photoge raphy team did a great job of getting film done on time. t While photographyis a very important part of every yearbook, pages wouldbe blank without layouts.
