VARSITY BASKETBALL A eturni,l this year with four starting spleayerse,and,fseveral newcomers, the varsityjbasketbail team began their season well by-winning second place at the Clemens tottrnament. A The teamiproved they had spirit and pride in their school by sticking together. The high point of the season came shortly after the start of the new year, when at a gym full of rowdy fans, the Rockets defeated their long-time archrivals, the Edgewood Red Raiders, witha score of 97 to 74. t At the beginning of the season the Rockets were the underdogs, competing Edgewood who was ranked tenth in the Citygfi But the Rockets rallied and won the following week against the Pleasenton Eagles. Coach Granger felt that both he and the team learnedthat having respect for each other helped them accomplish what they needed.
