Vice-Principals , During your years at John F. Kennedy you have been provided with many opportunities to acquire knowledge and to further develop physical, social, emotional, and mental skills. The time and effort you have given to these pursuits will serve you manyfold as you journey down the road of life. However, at this moment of jubilation it might be wise to pause and reexamine your accomplishments and successes. If you are in any way dissatisfied with your progress, I suggest that you do the following: I. identify those factors which have been an impediment to your success. 2. List all possible corrective steps. 3. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of each. 4. Select the course of action which you judge to be the most effective and tenaciously redouble your effort. 5. Above all, avoid indulgence in self pity and personalizing of your problems, to do so is self-destructive. Set Your sights on clearly defined goals, make a fervent commitment to them, and practice perseverance. Fortune comes to those who seek. Best wishes William H. lf I could magically give to all you l984 graduates two things from your high school years, they would be: I. Enough knowledge to recognize that your learning has just begun. 2. Friends that are strong and worthwhile, who will admonish you when you are wrong, who provide comfort when you are miserable, and in whom you can confide your desires, hopes and wishes. The realization that education separates the savage from the civilized will hopefully inspire you to continue your search for knowledge. And the person with true friends will never be miserable, hopeless, desperate or forlorn. l wish you the very best fortune in all your post-high school years. M Ronald S. Many of you in the graduating class of '84 - as well as many among the remainder of the student body - are people that I have known since elementary school. Now, after several years, we are together again, and I have the unique experience of participating with you in your graduation. Being part of your lives for all these years and seeing you graduate as successful young adults elicits a feeling of pride, akin to that of a parentt one that can be felt but not described.
