Andy Cloninger, Kevin Burbridge, Leslie Singh, Richard Johnson, Eric Alltucker, Mike Silva, coach Joe Medina. l983's varsity soccer team was the first men's soccer team in Kennedy's history to win the Metro-League title with a record of 8 wins and 2 losses. Picked to come in dead last in their league, Kennedy surprised all teams and became the second ranked team in Sacramento. Led by defender Mike Silva who received such honors this year asf Co-Player of the Year, first team Metro and League, and the team MVP award, Kennedy's defense only yielded I5 goals. Forward Kevin Burbridge led the team in goals scored and made first team All-League and second team Metro- League. Andy Cloninger, Richard Johnson, and Jerome Moore all made second team All-League, with Kevin Blunt and Jim Slipe making Honorable Mention. Led by first year coach Joe Medina, named Coach Of The Year, the season turned out to be an exciting and enjoyable one for the players, the coach, and the fans. Having a strong, well-rounded team, Kennedy can look forward to another great season with 8 strong returning players for coach Joe Medina to lead to another Metro-League championship like the year of I983. 2I6 Varsity Soccer

Frosh Breezes The l983 Freshman Foot- ball Team was the first in our school's history. After losing its initial game of the season to Christian Brothers, it won six straight games to com- plete a very successful year with a record of 6-I. The experience gained by members of the team will contribute significantly to the total football program at Kennedy, and should help returning players to have a successful season next year.
