I '53 Oh la Ia! Salut les amis I would like to tell you a little about my experiences in the United States as an exchange student. The first thing I learned from living in the United States was about the people and their way of life. I have learned a great deal about myself, my personality, and how to develop a positive outlook. Also, I have expe- rienced a different culture with many values and opinions different from my country. My first day of school was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. I found Kennedy High School to be very different from my school in France. Kennedy High School has many organizations and activities that I enjoy. My family, the Newman's, are really great, fantastic, and wonder- full We have been to many places in the U.S. and I have always had a great time with them. They are always there to help me and to understand me. I would like to thank my friends and everyone who has helped me during this year and made this experience a memorable one. Just another thing, I love you, Anna, Rita, Bill, Peggy, Larry, and Marsha. Myrian De Souza American Field Service France XX AFS Student l97

Hola a todos, When I applied to be a foreign exchange student, I never dreamed that I would end up in such a nice city as Sacramento, and in a school as good as Kennedy. I have had an unforgettable experience that has changed my life in so many aspects. I recommend this to anyone who wishes to find new experiences in life. You have to be strong to spend a year without your family. At this point your host family plays an important part in your year abroad. They treat you like part of their family also they make the year an enjoyable experience. The first month living in the U.S. was a little difficult to adjust. Their were changes, but after awhile you get used to hamburgers, hot dogs. and Monday Night Football. You begin to understand the American life style. I want to thank all the Kennedy students and my host family, the Moore's, for making this wonderful year possible. I hope I will be fortunate enough to come back. Gracias a todos, Julio Martin A.F.S., Spain iss AFS student QM' Gle for Julio

Rugby, Racin , Beer, and Mark' I spent the last half of my junior year and the first half of my senior year in New Zealand. a small, but very beautiful country in the South Pacific. The year I spent there was unforgettable. I lived with a family in Aukland, the largest city in New Zealand. I had a brother and a sister, both of whom I liked very much. Although I did not always spend a lot of time at home, my family and I got along well and shared many good times. New Zealand is known as the land of Rugby, racing, and beer, but I spent most of my time skateboarding or surfing with my friends. School in New Zealand is stricter, than school here at Kennedy, but I enjoyed it anyway and many of my friends went to the same school as myself. I had a fantastic time and I won't forget the people and places that I saw in l983. Mark Alling A.F.S.
