It was such an honor being out there. This was a definite high- light of my high school years. — Lisa Haxton 12th Grade (It was) one of the best nights of my life. — Lisa Spitzer 11th Grade Thanks for all the support and good memories, class of ' 91. — Ronette Soto 10th Grade nder the Silver Sky It was halftime, and the cheers and screams had died down. The crowd waited in antic- pation, holding its col- ective breath. The light sky sparkled ith a touch of silver uorescence against a lue backdrop recently •ected on the field of andel Stadium. It was ctober 21 — Kenne- r ' s Silver Anniversa- Homecoming. The day had begun ith an exciting pep sembly in the gym. Everybody sensed that the day was somehow special. MP-1 was adorned with 24 years of senior portraits, gold and green banners, and tons of memorabilia for the enjoyment of returning alumni. The Fighting Irish football team, spurred on, undoubtedly, by the sense of magic that the day had brought on, easily defeated Los Amigos. After the game alumni gathered at the alumni dessert, while the students danced the night ' s magic away at the homecoming dance at the California Plaza. Everyone in atten- dance at the game will remember the words spoken by the an- nouncer while the night waited: Our 1988 Homecoming Queen is ... Lisa Haxton! ► Highlighting the halftime ceremony at the Homecom- ing game, the Homecoming court smiles toward the crowd. 14 Homecoming ► Lisa Haxton Homecoming Queen

The assemblies ignite everyone ' s spirits and give them more pride in being Irish. — Heili Kim 11th Grade Phil Thuman de- serves the credit for our terrific assemblies. He ' s truly the best at what he does. — Ryan Ito 12th Grade New Dimension Roaring crowds, en- thusiastic and fun- filled faces, exciting routines performed by song and cheer. Where could all this be found? At one of Kennedy ' s pep assemblies, of course! This year ' s pep as- semblies are the best in recent years! ex- pressed Ryan Ito, ASB president. They bring out a whole new di- mension to Irish Pride. From the screaming contests to the band ' s finale of the alma ma- ter, it was non-stop fun. In our first assem- ly we were introduced to Joni Evans and her special talent as the Kennedy majorette. Our second assembly highlighted the Olympics. We went all out: a torch bearer, Olympic games with medal winners, even a simulated Olympic flame. The third as- sembly was for home- coming. Though we were there to cheer on our football team, we couldn ' t help but dou- ble over with laughter as we saw our varsity football players dressed as cheer- leaders, skirts and all, attempting to perform their routines. The pep assemblies ranked number one for entertainment. Two thumbs up for Irish pride!
