His life could be compared to a flat black and r white photograph which does nothing but present the facts. He is unin volved, not a part of a group, giving nothing, therefore receiving nothing in return. l,..us4.,. However, an involved student sees things in a different ligh t. It's his spirit which carries teams to victories, clubs to successes, and friends to good times happily shared. He isn 't there just for the good times. He seesit all, and is part of it all. So he is there for the defaults, disasters and hard times. All of these things are a part of the full picture seen by the involved student. L 7 Such a student is not alone. He is a functioning part of the system which keeps activities at the school running. He is there for dances, football games, softball gamesand after school clubs - always being involved either by participating or cheering for his favorite team. This student is the backbone of Iohn F. Kennedy. 'E ,. ll MXWH , j... fs Xxx My-r x Dedrca tron The Class of 1977 would like to show its appreciation to someone who's not only a faculty member, but a friend. He is a dedicated man whose day doesn't end at 2:15. You can always find him at P.T.A. meetings, at all athletic events cheering for our side, and even at our dances. He's someone you can turn to when you need help, someone you just know cares. So without any further ado, we would like to dedicate our yearbook to you, Mr. Z . 1 xg S Board of Education PAUL PALICKI WALTER GARDON President Vice President ROBERT GLOWNY ' 5 i 2 Q E 2 THADDEUS KLOSKO RICHARD KOPANKIEWICZ DANIEL SKOWRONSKI L . That is, that there is a price tag on human liberty. That price is the will- ingness to assume responsibilities of being a free people in a democratic society. The payment of this price is a personal matter with each of us and is not something others can pay for us. It means an involvement on our part in all activities of our society, an expenditure of our energy, time and often other sacrifices. To let others carry the responsibilities, burdens, work and worry - while we share only the benefits - may be a very human impulse, but it is likely to produce undesired consequences. Like physical activity is necessary to the human body to keep it healthy, involvement in a democratic society assures its continuity and the preservation of our freedoms. During the difficult times at the birth of our Nation, John Quincy Adams summarized it very well when he said, Posterity! You will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. Are you willing to pay the price? Are you making proper use of your free- dom? v l l 4 Mr Henry Andrzejewski, Principal Color is one of the most exciting aspects of life. It is the spice that turns a dull day into a pleasant experience. Color or the lack of it influences our outlook and reaction to daily experience. To appreciate the values of color we must approach life with an open mind - eager to take in as much of the experience as possible. Here at John F, Kennedy, the student that is a real PHII of school life - the active participant - is treated to a life of color. He is caught up in a rainbow of activity - academic, athletic, and social. He learns to appreciate his fellow stu- dents and to help them when and where his help is needed. He is a part of the life of the school and learns to appreciate the excitement and dynamism of his high school life. Those of you who find school life dark and dismal andwboring are part of the inactive group. You have cheated yourself of the exciting experience of participating in the kaleidescope of school activity. You may have acquired the education you sought, but you have neglected the other sides of your per- sonality. You have failed to appreciate the exhilaration of belonging and being involved in the total life of school expe- rience. You have confined yourself to the gloom and left the color, and excitement of life to others. Mr. Henry Z wi erzchowski Assistan t Principal Each individual is entitled to his own opinion and has differ- ent interests. Here at John F. Kennedy, we try to fulfill these needs with a variety of social and athletic activities, in addition to our curriculum . Involvement in school and its activities has a lasting effect. Knowledge once gained can never be taken from an individ- ual, it makes a lasting impression. This impression is what helps an individual to grow, it helps him see a more vivid picture of his surroundings, one may say a picture in color. A student who does not get involved and does not carry one of his interests through is shutting knowledge out. He tends to take a darker outlook on life, you may say he sees things in black and whitej We should all take advantage of the opportunities given to us. We may add to our friendships, win meets and trophies, and find that one day time has taken all these things away from us. If we think about it though, time can never really take these things away because they will always be near in our memories. Opening ourselves to different interests leaves us something very special in return, the joys of a lifetime full of color and its full appreciation.
