Mississippi, Master Chief Turner attended Saints College and entered the Navy in 1976. He completed Recruit Training at Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida in 1976. He attended Radioman Aw School and International Morse Code Operators School at Naval Training Center, San Diego, California. His first tour was onboard USS JOHN F. KENNEDY CCV 673 from 1976 through 1980. During his initial sea tour, he completed two Mediterranean Sea deployments and one North Atlantic. In 1980 he attended Radioman C-77 School in San Diego, California and Satellite Communication School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. In February 1981. Master Chief Turner reported to Naval Communications Telecommunications Area Master Station, Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia as the Tactical Circuits and SATCOMM Operator Supervisor. In me C 6' 3 B T, , I 6 ,UNITAS 1982 he reported to the U S S PLYMOUTH ROCK KLSD 293, includinga deployment. ln 1983 he re- ported to Naval S a t e 1 1 i t e Communication Detachment, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as the Operations Leading Petty Officer. ln 1984 he was assigned to USS TTICONDEROGA rco 473, the Fi-rst AEGIS Cruiser, as the Communications Division Leading Petty Officer, where he completed two Mediterranean Sea deployments. V Master Chief Tumer was selected as the Radioman Detailer and reported to Navy Personnel Command, Washington DC in 1986. He served as the Radioman AN school and E-5 Pacific Radioman Detailer and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer. He contributed directly to the Navy Retention as he made detailer trips to Naval Installations in Japan, Guam, and other locations including USS MIDWAY QCV 413 and Iceland.
