Mississippi, Master Chief Turner attended Saints College and entered the Navy in 1976. He completed Recruit Training at Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida in 1976. He attended Radioman Aw School and International Morse Code Operators School at Naval Training Center, San Diego, California. His first tour was onboard USS JOHN F. KENNEDY CCV 673 from 1976 through 1980. During his initial sea tour, he completed two Mediterranean Sea deployments and one North Atlantic. In 1980 he attended Radioman C-77 School in San Diego, California and Satellite Communication School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. In February 1981. Master Chief Turner reported to Naval Communications Telecommunications Area Master Station, Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia as the Tactical Circuits and SATCOMM Operator Supervisor. In me C 6' 3 B T, , I 6 ,UNITAS 1982 he reported to the U S S PLYMOUTH ROCK KLSD 293, includinga deployment. ln 1983 he re- ported to Naval S a t e 1 1 i t e Communication Detachment, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as the Operations Leading Petty Officer. ln 1984 he was assigned to USS TTICONDEROGA rco 473, the Fi-rst AEGIS Cruiser, as the Communications Division Leading Petty Officer, where he completed two Mediterranean Sea deployments. V Master Chief Tumer was selected as the Radioman Detailer and reported to Navy Personnel Command, Washington DC in 1986. He served as the Radioman AN school and E-5 Pacific Radioman Detailer and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer. He contributed directly to the Navy Retention as he made detailer trips to Naval Installations in Japan, Guam, and other locations including USS MIDWAY QCV 413 and Iceland. Master Chief Turner served aboard USS LASALLE CAGF 33 as the Communications Division Officer and CMS Custodian from 1990 through 1991 during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. ln 1994 if he reported to,,,C,hief Naval Technical mr n i it asfffft-tffllra i n i n g P ro g ram Cdioirdiifatior for Data Processing, Signalman, Radioman and Quartermaster. Master Chief Tumer graduated from the Senior Enlistedgpviacademy in 5: C? gf. From 1998 through 2002, Master Chief Turner served as the Retired Activities1'OfTieeQ Program Manager and ' TCa5uarr54Assr5tEil1Seica1rS officer Travel Coordinator and Budget Analyst at Navy Personnel Command during USS COLE CDDG 673, EP3C and Pentagon incidents. His awards include the Navy and 1 Marine Corps Commendation Medal Navy and Marine Corps Achievemerriff Medal 133, Combat Action Ribibonf Meritorious Unit Commendation, and two Battle Efficiency Ribbons among other awards. r l l 1 1 r
