Elllilllllivli Ullililil' Captain John Thomas Bader is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Bader of Lakewood, Ohio. ln May 1977 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and lnternational Studies from the University of Netae Dame fflo lrrshlf and was commissioned via Notre Dames NROTC program. Captain Bader began flight training in June 1977 and was designated a rotary wing aviator in July 1978. Following replacement pilot training, he reported to Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron Eleven tllS-111 in March 1979 and deployed with the Dragonslayers and Carrier Air Wing One embarked in USS JOHN T. KENNEDY QCV 671. Captain Bader then served as an instructor pilot for HS-1 beginning in January 1982. ln August 1985 Captain Bader reported to USS OUADALCANAL QLPH 71 in Norfolk, Virginia as the Elight Deck Officer and Aircraft Handling Officer. He detached in October 1987 alter completing two deployments and spent the next year as a student at the Naval War College, graduating from the College of Naval Command and Staff in November 1988. He then reported to the Red Lions of HS-15 in May 1989 as the Administrative Officer and then as the Maintenance Officer and completed a Mediterranean deployment with Carrier Air Wing Six embarked in USS EORRESTAL fCV 591. ln June 1991 Captain Bader transferred to Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, DC as t.he Assistant for Research, Development, Test and Evaluation on the staff of the Director, Air Warfare Division tN88f. From there he returned to Jacksonville, reported as Executive Officer of HS-7 in April 11993, assumed command of the Shamrocks in July 1994, and completed a deployment to thc Persian Gulf and Mediterranean Sea with Carrier Air Wing THREE embarked in USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER QCVN-691. Captain Bader relinquished command in July 1995 and assumed duty as the Executive Officer of USS JOHN T. KENNEDY QCV 671 in April 1996. Captain Bader holds two Master of Arts degrees: one in international Relations from Salve Regina University and thc other in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. The Atlantic Elect recipient of the 1995 Vice Admiral James B. Stockdale Award for Inspirational Leadership, he has also earned the Distinguished Elying Cross, the Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy Commendation Medals, and three Navy Achievement Medals in addition to various unit and personal citations. ln 1985 Captain Bader had the common sense and good fortune to marry Anne Ellen Schellenberg of Jacksonville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Schellenberg. The Baders live in Jacksonville and have been blessed with three daughters: Marie, Claire, and Monica. 74 1 T W COC

Ullllllllahll MHSTBI' Chief Master Chief Anderko was born in Cleveland, Ohio on 31 January 1957. He is the third of six children born to Erank and Geraldine Anderko. Master Chief Anderko enlisted in the Navy in March 1974 and attended basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, lllinois. lle was then assigned to USS INDEPENDENCE tCVA 621 homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. His next assignment was aboard USS RlCllMOND K. TURNER tCG 201 homeported in Charleston, South Carolina. Alter a shore tour at the Navy brig in Great Lakes, lllinois, he was assigned to USS SANTA RARRARA tAE 281 homeported in Charleston, South Carolina where he qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. Shortly after reporting aboard USS JOSEPH HEWES tEE 10781 homeported in Charleston, South Carolina, he was advanced to chief petty officer. While assigned to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, lllinois as a company commander he was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. ln May 1990 he reported aboard USS EORRESTAL tCV 591 homeported in Mayport, Florida where he was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer and qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist. During this tour of duty he made EORRESTALS last operational deployment to the Mediterranean Sea in support of Operation Provide Comfort. ln August 1992 Master Chief Anderko reported aboard USS RUSHMORE tLSD 471 homeported in San Diego, California as Command lllaster Chief and deployed on its first deployment in support of Operation Restore Hope ln .luly 1995 he graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy, NETC Newport, Rhode Island. His next assignment was Command Master Chief of HSL-48 in Mayport, Florida until his selection as Command Master Chief of USS JOHN E. KENNEDY tCV 671. Master Chief Anderko assumed his present duties in August 1996. Master Chief Anderkos personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal tone gold starl, Navy Achievement tthree gold starsl as well as various unit and campaign awards. He is married to the former Deborah Abercrombie. They have three children: Adam, Karl, and Samantha. af ,W COC
