The highlite of the 1948 homecoming was the traditional crowning ceremony. The queen, Beverly Schoenburger. was chosen by the football team. Her as ttendents Joan Wellner Arlene Heiman, Janet Christian and Jean Hinz Guards were cheerleaders Claude Schnei- der and Gordon Kessler, Leon Sigler, acting football captain. presented the queen with the victorious foot- ball and a crown of baby crysanthymums, Another colorful event during the homecoming was the decoration contest sponsored by the Pep Club. The prize was won by the Seniors who decorated their homeroom as a circus with photos and caricatures of football players depicting the performers,

Beverly Schoenberger Leon Sigler Homecoming Queen Football aptain HOM COMING On Thursday afternoon, October 14, an assembly was held with Maryann Coldwell directing. At this assembly pep talks were given by the acting captain and coaches. A response was given by an alumnus. The queenls attendants were presented to the roused crowd. The climax was reached when the captain crowned the queen who in return handed him the victorious football. With fall in the air the bonfire was lighted and the snake dance was initiated by Fritz Wiegand, Virgil Hegg and Cliff King, Student Council officers. A good turn out was on hand making the snake dance punchy and peppy. All went home sure that the game would be scrapin' good. The Pep Club sold pom-pomsy and the Juniors refreshments before and during the game. In the evening a record dance was sponsored by the Student Council. The Juniors had had the date but gracefully relinquishedit as the Student Council usually puts on that non profit dance. Joan Wellner, Jerry Foth and Elise Watson were in charge of the dance. To end this weeksend of frolicing the Band Mothers gave a dance Saturday, Octo- ber 16th. Elwin Mehlbrech and his orchestra played.
