It doesn t seem possible Why I couldn t pos sibly have stood ln this place for seven years but it must be true because I see my favorite class graduatlnff In 1948 a class came through mv portals awed stunned and starry eyed They reminded me of young colts Just beginning to walk In 1949 they had become accustomed to the ldea of living ln the wide open spaces but the time was still to come before they could grow out of their 1mp1sh ways In 1950 the idea of an eighth grade was introduced and this class was the first to try it out Under the leadership of Mrs Copenhaver Mrs Holladag Mr Hill and Mr Owens 130 energetlc youngsters began to get used to changing classes and the other phases of their high school life In 1951 they became Freshmen wlth the help of Miss Whittaker Mr Esterly Mr Hill and Mr Grantham Many of them took a great deal of pleasure out of participating in sports for the first time others Jolned the various clubs of which they had long wished to be members while others decided to settle down to the business of studying and make the best out of thelr high school vxork However they all gave me a constant ache from running ID the halls and throwing erasers and yes believe it or not still flying airplanes out of the upstairs windows Mrs Mllstead and Miss Smith had quite a time holding them down to earth My poor ol sound svstems stayed covered with shell smoke eraser dust This seemed to have been their most exciting year because they looked to the future and not to the past they were anxious to become Juniors and had a feeling that the worst was over and the best was yet to come Nineteen Fifty Three found them as happy and carefree Juniors This year was spent trying to be somebody They sponsored a talent program bake sales rummage sales and concessions to ralse money for a Junior Senior banquet They chose as their theme the Mardi Gras and with the help of Laverne Woody turned this affair lnto a huge success At the last of the year I found this class reallv exclted over ordering their class rings and over the very idea of soon becoming Dlgnlfied Senlors Well 1955 has finally arrived and I must put an end to my FGIYIIHIS cing But as I look back I find this class to be hlghlv successful in many vxays They have had Just as many honor students and outstanding ath letes as any other class and certainly they have enJoyed every day spent within my vsalls When this class of 73 leaves through my portals Im sure they will take wlth them the memory of their high school years filled with pleasures and rich experlences the association with their teachers and the knowl edge they gained from them the contacts with their friends and class mates the school sp1r1t of football basketball and baseball games and the pride they will feel when they sing of me their ALMA MATER C241 i ' 7 7 ' 1 . 1- 1 11 - 1 , ' 1 K f 1 , , L'u 51 1 A V 1 , 1 ,1A , I - . 1 1k 1 1 at 1 . ,, 1 1 K 1 I 1 1 , . . . .
