emor 6 aaa .jvcalorg Lets go back to 1951 when we were Just enterlng John D Bassett Hxgh School on a new and wonderful experlence From the very begxnn 1ng we were a very small class Wlth forty flve members due to the fact of the new exghth grade that was added that year A majorlty of us were transfers from M3Ft1HSVll16 Hlgh School W1th the capable leader ship of Kermon Thomason our presldent and M1ss Margaret Mlller our sponsor we learned a lot about thxs bus1ness of h1gh school and many of us started enterlng 1nto the clubs and act1v1t1es The next fall twenty elght of us as sophmores returned with MISS Eunlce L1pscomb as our sponsor and agaln elected Kermon Thomason as our president We all entered lnto more act1v1t1es such as football basketball eheerleadlng SCA and varlous clubs and were honored ln havlng a member of our class Nancy Draper bemg runner up ln the Beauty Pageant After our summer vacatlon twenty seven of us returned for a splendld Junxor year under the leadershlp of Tommy Stokes our presl workmg toward I'd1SlIlg money by makmg streamers and workmg the concesslons at football games On March 27 we presented our class play Jumor Prom These 3.CtlXlt16S brought 1n the money needed to gne the J umor Senlor Banquet on May 15 Wh1Ch proved to be very success ful w1th the theme Stork Club Thls year Nancy Draper won the t1tle of M1ss Bassett 1n the beauty pageant Wxth everyone lookmg forward to the last and happlest year We came back wlth thlrty one semors Aga1n Tommy Stokes was elected presldent and Mrs Mary Lucas Draper our sponsor Our class rlngs came and then we began to really feel l1ke semors Our Chrlstmas party the senlor play the Junlor Senlor Banquet and our hard labor on the annual w1ll 1ema1n as happy memorles And now ln caps and gowns we end our career at Bassett Hlgh to take on new responslbllltles of the world f29 , . . . , V. , . . , 7 A 7 . n . . . . , , 9 o ' n ' 1 r ' , - . . . , .- dent, and Miss Mary Lucas, our sponsor.
