QouhcU A Senior Council was organized for the purpose of promoting student government. The Council has been very active in its work and has proven successful. We feel that some day, in the future, Councils in all classes will be formed to create for themselves a plan of good citizen- ship and to promote honor among the students. The Bassett chapter of the National Beta Club was one of the first twenty to organize having its formation in 1936-37 under the direction of Mr. E. C. Hoover. Qualifications for membership are either a Junior or Senior in High School with a high scholastic record and commendable conduct. Ten privates were eligible in the fall of 1941 for membership and were initiated in an Induction Service before the student body, with Captain Mary G. Barnes and Colonel Paul Spencer in charge. One of the most outstanding features of the year is the National Beta Club Convention where our club is always represented. { 29 If
