This year, unlike the past years, there was not a Hey Week, however this did not dampen the Homecoming spirit Every class built the traditional floats and decorated their hall to the Homecoming theme The highlight of the week was on Friday. October 31. The day began with the Assembly Pep Rally where classes competed in a variety of games and contests The Mafia was on hand to keep everyone in their places. Many Seniors dressed in different Halloween costumes to help promote enthusiasm. Jason Clum, the Cavalier, was on hand to Ignite everyone’s spirit for the big game. And what a game it was! The Cavs defeated Tarrant; 25-20. During halftime, Becky Berte was crowned the 1982 Homecoming Queen. The first runner-up was Toni Parker, the second runner-up was Stephanie Carey and the third runner-up was Veronica Costello. Other candidates were; Jackie Boggan, Eileen Reilly, Pari Bragan, Rosemary Sizemore and Patsy Thomas. Later that night at the Dance. Mike Sperando, King of Heart . Falkenbura. Prince of Heart Kim The 1983 Queen of Hearts Dance was held on February 5, in the John Carroll Gym. The theme was “Mardi Gras” with masks and floats of dragons. It was one of the most successful projects ever put forth by the CSMC. Each class nominated six boys and girls to compete In the Queen Princess and King of Hearts contest. Clubs were also given the opportunity to nominate a candidate to help raise money for the needy. The candidate who collected the largest amount of donations from the students and faculty at John Carroll was crowned Queen of Hearts, while Princess of Hearts would go to the candidate who gathered the greatest amount in contributions from outside sources. Crowned Queen of Hearts was Junior Mary Emig. while Sophomore Freeda Fawal was Alternate. Princess of Hearts was Junior Kim Falkenburg and Alternates were Senior Rosemary Sizemore and Freshman Sheri Giambrone. King of Hearts candidates kept the tradition of selling tickets to the Dance. Mike Sperando, who was a member of our TMR program, won the title of King, while Freshman Jeff Cull and Junior Chris Ragusa were Alternates. We would like to thank Gina Potocnlk and Art Shehan for being dependable photographers. If it wasn't for them and a few other people who furnished extra pictures, this yearbook would not have been possible Special thanks goes to our parents who were understanding, cooperative and supportive during our late nights, deadlines and grouchy spells. Good luck to everyone in the future, especially future editors Sincerely Yours. 9 4
