A new day, a new experience, yes, and a new school, that day is one to remember. We were all confused, even the carpenters, because the building had not yet been com- pleted. To add to the confusion, we were mere Sophomores. Jerry Case started our first year at John Carroll as the president of our class. Jerry Sherrill, vice-presidentg Mary Elizabeth Mulvaney, secretaryg and Ernest Eltz, treasurer served as the other officers. Hear that chorus of Amo, Amas, Amat? That's the Latin Class. Some of those who struggled were Imelda Obering, Rose Eleanor C-audin, Jack Uram, Stanley Mackin and Tommy Wachter. That was a glorious year of constant changes of class rooms, receiving lockers, and last but not least the grand opening of our lunch room. By the time the year ended our school was really shaping up Everyone was ready and anxious for the Junior year which lay ahead We trooped back to school for an eventful year Heading the fine Junior class were Jim Wright president Jack Uram vice president Theresa Swift secretary and Jimmy Walker treasurer One of the first social contributions of our class that year was a barn dance held in late December which was a grand success Following this were hayrides dances and the like With this year came the first strains of muslc from the Band room Some of the talented Juniors who helped make this noise were Dorothy Gengler Cleo Takis Waddell Zanaty and Sam Spano With this year came the Annual Talent Show put on by the Annual Staff which we all enloyed Almost before we knew it Prom time was here and the Juniors were digging down deep into their pockets At long last on September 5 I949 we started on the last of our lourney Although we were a mighty proud bunch of Sensors it was hard to realize we had almost reached our goal Pat Madden our Senior Class president and the other officers Ronald lvludwilder vice president Terrie Arel secretary and Stanley Mackun treasurer were to be our guiding lights through the year Every football game held an exciting and very important part in the hearts of every Senior The game with St Bernard was quite a victory so we celebrated with a dance neld at St Augustine s Hall The King and Queen of School Spirit Jack Uram and Claire Arel who were well selected were crowned that night Everyone enloyed themselves thoroughly A hayride followed this on Thanksgiving Eve We all liked the taste of dust so a nice time was had by all Christmas time brought many dances and parties Then came prom time and things started humming We made many plans and everything turned out wonderfully These memories will be with us as long as we live They are good memories of many good times Our future lies ahead of us now we will always think about these days when we travel over the rocky roads Class Historian Peggy Conway O JRE? +a tl Aw? -A fan, 2- I4 0 ff 5 E 5 'wi I 7 V- 4 I T -5 an Ak J O 0I'S Bue and S Roya President edd M ..,Pat res'dent ..,,...
