As we, the A9's of W'58, are ready to graduate, we have many memories of .l.B. One of our
funniest memories is when we were bewildered B7's. Of course, it didn't seem funny to us at the
time. We had trouble finding our classes the first few daysg but then we really got into the swing
of things. We elected Peggy Averbaok, Paul Crost, Donna Jessup, Suzi Lappin, Andi Leemon, Henry
McPherson, and Virginia Stephens to represent us as our homeroom presidents. Our class sponsor,
Miss McCarthy, offered words of encouragement all through this term to keep us happy and
We saw our first Burr Frolics, and were quite surprised at the talent of some J.B. students and
The Student Body elections made us realize that we were iuniors, so we all tried to get good
grades. We took part in our first Little World Series: we lost.
Then came the-day when we were A7's, and not lowly scrubs any more. We walked around
as if we owned the school, we were so happy. We elected as our homeroom presidents this term:
Mike Adel, Pam Evans, Bill Izakowitz, Shirley Levenson, Mike Lyon, Ronny Marks, and Bart Teush.
The officers led us in o wonderful terrn. During this term we received l.D. pictures for the first
time. They came as quite a shock to most of us, but now as we look back, all we can do is
laugh. This semester Mr. Hunt came to us as boys' vice-principal. Some parts of the buildings were
modernized, such as, sound-proofing the ceiling and newly painting the walls. There was a Dribble
Bowl game, which we lost,
Now we were B8's, and we elected Mike Lyon as chairman of our Junior Assembly. Our other
leaders were: Tica Greitzer, Art Harlig, Susan Howard, Susan Levy, Bill Piltzer, Gordon Rose, and
Jeff Smith. We were very happy to welcome Mr. Jarrett as our new principal, and we were very
happy when we found out how friendly he is. The next Burr Frolics was very good.
It finally camel As A8's, the girls got their first senior privilege: they got to wear lipstick.
We were so happy about it. Maybe that's why all our leaders were girls. Chosen were: Peggy
Averbook, Elizabeth Gabay, Marilyn Giss, Donna Jessup, Suzi Lappin, Andi Leemon, and Susan
Schlalfer. We took part in the Dribble Bowl, but we lost.
Being seniors, we had to get good grades so that we could run for offices. With Latin, algebra,
and Spanish in the B9, we wondered if it was worth it, with all the homework piling up. At last,
though, we were dumped into mad confusion as we heard speeches and then waited for results.
Henry McPherson won for student-body president, Penny Fenster, secretary, Karen Kadushin, safety
commissioner, Ronny Marks, commissioner of community relations, and Linda Barr, school service
commissioner. Chosen to head the Girls' League were Andi Leemon, president, Suzi Lappin, vice-
presidentg Shirley Levenson, secretaryg Elaine Horne, senior athletic commissioner, and Susan Levy,
iunior athletic commissioner. The boys chosen to run the Boys' Council were: Mile Lyon, president,
Larry Schwartz, vice-president, Richarcl Aller, secretary, and Tim Schiff, athletic commissioner. The
homeroom presidents were: Carol Callahan, Barbara Crane, Bob Essick, Mary Felicano, Virginia
Hallinen, Elaine Horne, and Jerry Krasn. These homeroom presidents led us through a wonderful term.
As B9's there were many extra events. We saw our last Burr Frolics. The highlight of this Burr
Frolics was the wonderful singing of Nat "King" Cole.
ln sports we won the Little World Series. We were defeated, though, by the faculty.
At last we reached the final plateau. We were A9's. lt was a wonderful feeling to be the leaders
of the school. The other pupils look up not only to the officers, but to all A9 students as examples.
We look back on our last term with mixed emotions. We had many wonderful homerooms and color
days, and a Play Day, and many wondreful assemblies. We'll especially remember our Graduation.
Junior High has been a wonderful experience, and we will never forget it.
