l l i We began our A9 term by electing Bill Soghor to be our president. We were sure to have a terrific semester with Bill to lead us. The other officers we elected were vice-president, Charles Diamondg secretary, Margaret Blair, and historian, Arlene Lewis. The A9 Council consisted of the officers and our homeroom presidents, Marty Bischoff, Joan Hesseloff, Larry Koran, Joel Piehl, Nancy Sager, Shelio Schwartz, and Barry Silverman. This group planned all of our many activities. We had many A9 homerooms in the auditorium this term. ln these meetings we discussed and voted on coming activities, received general suggestions from our counselors, and took care of all homeroom duties. Watch the birdie was a refrain often heard on our two camera days. The first of these camera days was for pictures to be included in the BURR. The second was for remembrances of J.B. and our friends. Pink and grey were voted to be our A9 colors. These colors were worn by the A9's on Color Day. This term we had two successful breakfasts. The cafeteria was decorated in pink and grey crepe paper. During both breakfasts we were entertained by talented members of our class. Community sing- ing was led by a group of boys. Arlene Lewis served as the accompanist. The drama class, under the supervision and direction of Mrs. Gardemal, presented a play entitled GAME OF CHESS, which starred an all-boy cast. The journalism class worked hard on the FAR AND NEAR this term, and as a result, produced six very fine editions. Members of this class, Linda Yeomans and Gerald Mast, were chosen to be literary and organization editors of the BURR. Myrna Dorshkind and Ken Feldman served as art editors. The receiving of our pins and ribbons was the first of our A9 privileges. We received them after the ten-week grades ond wore them for the remainder of the semester. We came dressed in our A9 colors, pink and grey, on Color Day. This activity was planned to celebrate the receiving of our pins and ribbons. The A9 girls enjoyed their play day. The theme was holidays. Such holidays as Christmas, Valen- tine's Day, the Fourth of July, and New Year's Day were represented by each of the ten teams. Members of the faculty served as judges and ten B9 girls were chosen to referee. Counselors from Los Angeles and Fairfax High Schools came and advised us as to our programs in the BIO. To find out some of our vocational interests, we took interest inventories. We had two after-school dances. Both of these were very successful.
