I rl PHL Q Q rf. r 5,1 .gg A9 OFFICERS, under the guidance of Miss Baller, and Miss Gibson, consist of the A9 class president, vice- president, secretary, historian, and all A9 homeroom presidents. A9 CLASS HISTORY B7 "Please dan't step on me" were our first words as we entered J.B. We looked around and saw the big halls and wondered if we would ever get to know our way around. Someone probably heard one of us saying, "Could you please direct me to the elevator? My feet hurt fronr walking up and down the nine flights of stairs," We finally got used to J.B. and had our first grade assembly, We elected Susan Glazer and Richard Kahn to be our "grade reps." Without the help of our wonderful counselor, Mrs. Caligiuri, we could not have managed our first semester so well. A7 At last we made it, We weren't scrubs anymore. We elected Sheila Schwartz and Bruce Corwin to represent us on Board of Control. This term an ambitious group of boys and girls ran for Chairman of Junior Assembly. We experienced our first P.T.A. Membership Drive, and due to our determination, we won. Thus our first year at J.B. came to an end. lt was wonderful just ta be in the eighth grade. The new constitution came into effect this term, and our homeroom presidents repre- sented us in the leadership class. We elected Gail Braverman, Madeleine Roybark, Barbara Segal, Richard Cole, Jerry Friedman, Larry Koran, and Bill Soghor to be our homeroom presidents. Dick Coveny was elected Chaiman af Junior Assembly. We were sad when we learned that Mr. Kaplan, the boys' vice-principal, was leaving to became principal at Audubon Junior High. A8 Hallelujah! We were seniors! Were we proud to be in the upper division of our school. We knew, though, that we had certain responsi- bilities as seniors and we were ready to accept them, We were very happy when we won the P.T.A. Drive for the second time. We elected Sandy Attie, Bonnie Corwin, Reba Fogel, Susan Nagin, Marlene Zeitman, Bruce Corwin, and Howard Galdring to represent us in senior leadership. This term we welcomed our new boys' vice-principal, Mr. Hamerman. B9 We were in the ninth grade, now privileged to enjoy Burrs and Belles. Our homeroom presidents, Barbara Altman, Susan Garth, Arlene Simon, Betty Wirick, Tiffin Clegg, Charles Diamond, and Bill Soghor, helped to plan this activity. As the saying goes, "All good things come to an end." We were disappointed to learn that our beloved counselor, Mrs. Caligiuri, was to leave us. She was to become girls' vice- principal at Northridge Junior High. A9 At last, our long awaited A9 term! lt seemed iust yesterday that we were scrubs trying to find our way around school. Bruce Corwin was elected student body president, We elected our class officers to plan, with the help of the A9 Council, our many activities. This term we won the P.T.A. Drive for the third time, We shall always remember our three years at J.B. From B7's to mighty A9's we have profited by each of our many experiences. We were fortunate to have had Mrs. Caligiuri as our counselor, for she faithfully guided us through our first two and a half years, We were also thankful to have Miss Baller and Miss Gibson to guide us through our A9 term. As we march down the aisles to "Pomp and Circum- stance" we shall remember the wonderful time we spent at John Burroughs. All of us wish to thank our counselors, the administrators, and the faculty for preparing us far graduation and adulthood. And so, we, the class of W'55, say "Farewell J.B."
