UBLE UBLE S Two of the most outstanding dancers at Burroughs are Diane Stumpf and Linda Duhell. Diane has performed in the Christmas program and the Operetta, Linda has also danced in the Operctta and at various other activities such as the Mother-Daughter banquet. and the l atlier-Daugditer banquet. She is also a talented singer. having one of the leads in the small Uperetta. Linda and Diane are truly an inspiration to their fellow dancers. lf they choose to continue. they will grow, through experience, into ac- compli:-ahed performers. 'tSomewhere there's mu- sic -and that is where you'll Gnd Sherry Snow and Jim Porter. Sherry has been active in all three choirs since her first year at JB. She performed in such musical events as the small Operetta, Annie Laurief' and had the lead in the big Operetta, Call Me Madam. Jim has been an outstanding member of the dance hand. His great talent has been enjoyed by all Burroughs students. Two of the most talented and enthusiastic perform- ers at JB. are Bahs Allman and Kathy Keenan. Babs has been spotlighted for her great acting ability. She has walked off with top acting trophies in two Foothill League Drama Festivals, and had one of the leads in the Diary of Anne Frank. ,.x ! Tom Holley and Chick Mokracek were unanimous choices as the out- standing athletes of 1960. Tom was a member of the All-League Foot- ball team. Chick was captain of the Cross Country squad this year. He was one of the most outstanding runners J.B. has ever had. break- ing many records. Paige Timmons and Donna Matheson were out- standing in Girls' Athletics this year. Both have been members of Lettergirls' Club for two years. I ' Chuck Filbert. Bob Rigg. and Helen Adams have held many important of- fices in student govern- ment. Chuck served as Junior Class president. A.S.B. Recorder, and Sen- ior Class President. Bob has been Sophomore Class President. Boys' Council President, Vice-president. and Secretary. and also served as A.S.B. President. Helen has served as Jun- ior Class Secretary and A.S.B. Auditor for two see mesters. All three have al- ways Worked with the Wel- fare of their fellow stu- dents uppermost in their minds. and have devoted time and energy to ful- filling the duties of these ofhces to the best ot' their abilities. Linda Darling, John De- Mott. and Steve Mayer have been chosen for their contributions in the field of journalism. Linda has been writing for the Smoke Signal in the capacity of News Editor. She has kept everyone up to date on the latest happenings all year. John served as Sports Ed- itor and Associate Editor of the Smoke Signal. He provided excellent cover- age of all athletic events. Steve, the Associate Editor for the first semester and the Editor-in4Chief for the second semester. gave much of his time and tal' ents in making the Smoke Signal an outstanding journalistic publication. Cork Parker and Tom Bronson were two of this year's finest B athletes. Cork received the most valuable back award and Tom was chosen most inspirational player at the annual Football Ban- quet. Both boys were a great asset to our B team this year. NVe will suffer a loss when they graduate. 1

Judy Jacobs and Kathy Tanous have won many awards this year in the world of art. Judy was often approached for posters and election banners and cheerfully turned them out with amazing skill and speed. Kathy also unselfishly helped out when- ever she was requested, working on pro- gram covers and the Christmas program slides. Both girls deserve honors for achievement in visual communication, which was vital to the success of many school activities. Doug Fairall and Tom Holley specialize in different helds. Doug is an expert with electrics. He knows countless things about radios and other electrical wonders. Tom specialized in printing. Examples of his fine work could be found on programs and tickets for various school activities throughout the year. Take a letter, Miss . . . Janet Costello and Karen Conard will probably be used to this phrase if they pursue their careers in the business education field. In this field, efficiency and depend- ability are necessities. These girls have worked hard to increase their value to prospective employers.
