UBI FQ Q the academic system of Bur- A 5 roughs High School. This title has been conferred by the Lords and Ladies of John Burroughs for val- iant pursuit of the Holy Grail of Knowl- edge. This title is to be retained by this group until they become the recipients of the Articles of Graduation on June fourteenth, nineteen hundred and sixty. During childhood they emerged from the Moat of Ignorance and entered ele- mentary schoolg a few years hence they entered the vast reaches of the Cham- bers of Learning in junior high. After a lengthy, arduous climb, they ascended at last to the Tower of Attainment and Fulfillment in senior high school. This class has pursued their goal relentlessly, and we present them with pride. Judy is sure to achieve prominence in her chosen vocation of secretarial work. il' high school records are any indication. Leslie Saxe has achieved the highest academic rat- ing in College Preparatory subjects throughout three years at J.B. She has earned the greatest num- ber of academic grade points in the first five se- mesters of senior high school, among 235 college prep seniors. Leslie has not not been chosen or se- lected. but has earned her award by working and by achieving the highest grades of her class. OUTSTANDING SE IORS Leslie Saxe and Nancy Ely have not only been outstanding in their work in English. but have also been prominent in the for- eign language field-Leslie in Spanish and Nancy in Latin. Both girls have fine per- sonalities which, combined with their mastery of language, should lead to the achievement of their future vocational and social objectives. These outstanding seniors were chosen for their scientific abili- ties. Kathy Dakin. when not busy with her duties as Girls' League President. could often be found wielding a wicked scal- pel in Biology. Steve Piastmond. aside from his many jobs on Olll' Akela Staff. was often found among test tubes and bunsen burners. Tom Fortmann. in ad- dition to being a valuable foot- ball player. was a whiz with a lever in Physics. Proper rec- ognition to these three seniors for excellence in the sciences is especially fitting during the present global competition for scientific advancement.
