Young Diplomats Exchange Program The New York-Tokyo Young Diplomats Exchange is very new to John Bowne High School. Students who study both Japanese Culture for one term and Japanese Language for four terms are eligible to apply as possible candidates. This November, 24 students came to New York for 2 weeks. At that time, they stayed with New York City high school students who are studying Japanese. Our own Cindy Ting and Janet Tsai were hosts. The Japanese students attended school every day and in the evening they went to many exciting events, including the mayor's reception, the chancellor's reception, a dinner given by the Nippon Club, and the Broadway show 42nd Street . Everyone involved in the program went to Washington as tourists. This March, Cindy and Janet will be visiting all their new friends in Japan and will be sightseeing and attending classes in Tokyo for 2 weeks. The faculty advisors for the Exchange Program are Ms. Weiner and Ms. Esterces. They are the planners and escorts for the many exciting and educational activities that delight our Japanese guests and their hosts. Bowne students play host to young diplomats from Spain. The Exchange Program gave our students the opportunity to discover Spanish culture first-hand. I r' at
