Le Francais f'54 El Espanol L'Italiano Our Foreign Language Department is a place where you can learn to say anything in more than one way. The head of the department is Mrs. E. Baer. The Foreign Language Department is made up of a sizeable number of dedicated teachers who not only enjoy teaching, but who enjoy conversing and im- parting their knowledge to their students. ln the classrooms the students are instructed in the correct pronunciation, sentence construction, and reading and writing of the language. There is very little, if any, English spoken. Our teachers try to get the students to think their thoughts only in the Ian- guage they are speaking - not to translate into English. This is a difficult task, but when drilled and drilled, it is possible. A knowledge of foreign language is not only a pre- requisite for college bound students, it is also fun to speak and read for pure enjoyment. 1 It's a man's world in the various fields of Industri- al Arts. One conquers what he likes best. Young men who are rostered to shop class are taught woodworking, electricity, graphic arts, and metal work. Each young man relishes the hours spent in these various shops where he is not only shown each operation in detail, but he is also given the opportunity to expound on what he has learned. Evidence of a studentls talents are often dis- played throughout these various shop rooms that are fully equipped with all the necessary equip- ment to complete jobs of all types in the various arts. The students are assigned individual as well as group projects and are at all times under the skilled leadership of the teaching staff and under the guidance of the department head, Mr. Samu- el Rubin.
