Although the year l945-I946 did not produce any maior championship teams, sports at Bar. tram were lrept on the same high level that our school is noted tor. Our small, but tast and hard charging toot- ball team played good, clean, hard tootloall all season, ard with the prealrs goirg our way, we 'night well have been at the top ot the League. The team reached their pealc when they came within sixty seconds ot deteating Southern, the city champions. Atter the Clippers had torced the play al atternoon, the Rams scefed and cor'- verted, in the t'nal mfrusex to win 7-6. Coach Flan- nery pondering a new play. deteating Southern in a sensational 4l438 upset to tie tor tourth, the Clippers deteated West Philly in order to earr' the right to meet South- ern again. The Clippers went down tighting in the playotts, but we shall always remember them as the hottest team in the League. hor the second consecutive year, Bartram was honored by being presented with the Philadel, phia Sportsmanship Trophy. This award, one ot the most coveted in this area, is presented ap- nually to the school whose teams ard stuoen' Crowds show the highest degree ot sportsmane ship during the season. lt is a the tripute to -our studerf crowds who have always condi.:'eo themselves in the pest tashion. With very tew holdovers trom last years squad, the Clippers deteated Germantown in their initial contest. Jimmy Rightly placed tirst on every piece ot apparatus in this meet. The Clippers placed sixth in the championship meet, won by Northeast.
