Lutter, William Mulhern, Leon Corchyea, Harry Click. Last Row- Billie Michaelson, Sam Long. Tom Boyle, John Foreacher. ,lohn Bradley, Wallace Garner. Robert Kane. Bartramis cross-country team finished its third successful season under the coaching of Mr. Schott. Headed by Captain ,loe lVlazzeo, the Clippers were able to come away with three firsts, two seconds, and one last place. The squad was victorious over Olney, St. Thomas More, Ben Franklin, Gratz, Southern and again Olney. Captain lVlazzeo was the nzain attack of the team. He was one of the best school runners in Philly and finished among the leaders. ln the Public High League Championship meets, at Fairmount Park, eight league teams competed. Bartram placed sixth and was a few points behind Southern, who placed fifth. The meet was won by the boys from Northeast. The second team championships were also held at the Park. The Clipper's Jay Vee squad placed fifth out of a possible seven. Mr. Schott is looking forward to having a championship team at Bartram. He is tutoring his boys in the tricks of the running game and gives a proud gleam when next yearis possibilities are spoken of. l 97

Jay Vee Football Finishing its third successful football sea- son, Bartrarnis second team has annexed its sec- ond championship since entering the Public High League. This year the team was excellently coached by a new member of our Physical Education Department, Mr, John Klingman. Of the three tough years on the gridiron, the Jay Vee squads have come through with only one defeat. The first two years the teams were undefeated but unfortunately lost the initial game this season to West Philly, but Coach Klingmanis boys romped through the other teams with victories over Southern, Central, Olney, Overbrook, Ben Franklin and Frankford, and finished the season undisputed champions. atb: Barbour, Federman, Zuhrack, Hummel. Gym Team The team has completed three successful years and Coach Keebler speaks with pride of last yearis team which finished fourth in its in- itial entrance into Public High League competi- tion - an excellent showing: for the ugreenw gymnasts. Mr. Keebler has some excellent gymncists in Bonsall, Buchanan, and Greer. Dorothy Russie. BASKETBALL TEAM Under the sponsorship of Miss Holden, the Basketball Club has been meeting every Friday at 2:30. Its objective is to teach the girls advanced basketball. The varsity team is captained by Connie Bowen and the reserves by Dora Sheelz. Presi- dent is Pat Trumin and Dorothy Suders is secretary.
