Varsity finally wins lrightl J.R. Miles i301 carries ball as Kevin Spencer l51 and Pete Demas U61 prepare to block, lfop rightl Head Coach Dave Damcke gives advise to Dave Perkins l501. The 1975 varsity football team may not be the best in the history of Adams, but it will be long remem- bered for what it accomplished on October 3. After suffering through 21 consecutive defeats, the team rose up to smite Jefferson, 18-6, in a convinc- ing victory which spurred them to play the best football in their remain- ing games that the school's fans had seen in three years. Even though the season mark was a lowly 1-8, first year coach Dave Damcke said that overall, he was very happy with what we've done. We made mistakes and got hurt for it, but even though that happened a lot, we stuck together and were competitive in all but one game. Citing the homecoming game with Grant Q0-47l as the worst effort of the season, and quickly contrasting this game with the Jeff victory and the strong effort against Madison, Dam- cke noted the inconsistent mental attitude which plagued the team all year. Some top individual efforts of the season included the receiving of James Arceneaux, the passing and quarterbacking of Jerry Bell and Peter Demas, the running of halfback RB.
