Pork reflects on 1975-76 school yeor V . :s t , ., x ,. Q. ' 2 fue ff gi : 'IN . kwin 1- 7 ' 5 '-X ,aa ,, - Q - an if lf..!Q.f. ,, hem NM' . J ' V ,f-nyweia t. as ,. .lye During this school year much change has taken place. A well liked principal, Dr. Don Holt, left at the end of December. A decision to drop two schools-within-school next year was Made in mid-February in responce to declining enrollment. Favorite teach- ers will not be returning as the size of the staff becomes smaller. Yet this is so much like life in the twentieth century. One major charact- eristic of our time is change - and change at an accelerating rate. Per- haps the key to success in life today is maintaining confidence and cheerful optimism in the face of decreasing predictability about tomorrow. If this is so, then the 1975-76 school year provided opportunity to face signifi- cant change while enjoying the support of school staff, other students, and home members. lt may be that John Adams High School as it seeks to provide a humane, realistic education for life, performs a unique function in that it prepares students for a society where change is the norm. At any rate, as your interim principal, I have enjoyed the associations with students and staff that are alive and inquiring. And, even though some of the changes may have been threaten- ing, the general behavior of the students of John Adams High School reflected a maturity rarely found in American high schools. The year has been a good one. The students of John Adams High School can be expected to make important contributions to edu- cation and society in future years. May we have the good fortune of working together again at another time. Bernard E.
