iss.-if gf i 3' 'MX 2 'l 11' Women finish with 15 wins 1976 was the most successful season in the history of Adams women's golf team. The women were extremely dedicated and talented, they pushed themselves far beyond the expecta- tions of anyone, according to Coach Pete Burchell. Top golfer was Linda Gill followed by Jill Davis, Vicki Smith, Alice Gill and Sue Surratt. ln spite of their youth the team won 15 matches while losing three and tying one and finished third at the PIL City Tourn- ament at West Delta Park Golf Course, missing second by two strokes. Although the men's golf team did not win any matches five golfers were very dedicated. They were Chris Card, Norman Davis, Kevin Johnson, David Hawes, and Jeff Smith, according to Coach Jim Rice. Top Golfer Chris Card, who won over half his individual matches, shot 76 at the PIL City Tournament at Delta Park Golf Course, which tied him for eight place. Chalking up wins against Marshall and Washington, the mens team finished with a 2-5 record. The outstanding singles player was Nathan Harms, winning three, matches. Team- ing up for first doubles, Nels Goranson and Kim Ell went through the season with a 6-1 record. The team played some tough schools but really did a great job, stated Coach l-lanlon. Winning against Washington was the highlight of the season, stated womens tennis coach Marilyn Gov- aars. The surprise of the season was Chris Haug's and Sally Flosenfeld's crush in their first round match at City, where they won 6-3, 6-3. Other distinguished players are Nancy Bor- ich, Debbie Griffith, Suzi Stefanowitz and Kathy Thornton. lleftl Coach Flon Hanlon keeps a close eye on the games, lcenter leftl Sally Rosenfeld gives a backhand, lfar leftl Chris Haug kills a serve. 119
