Frosh Basebah Roin, losses mcirk seoson The Adams JV team ended their season with four wins, two looses and two ties which resulted when darkness halted both games. The Freshman Team, however, fared less well, win- ning none while losing four. Both teams were plauged by rainouts during the damp spring. JV Coach Flon Brown said he was glad there were enough sophomores and juniors to form a team. Frosh Coach Steve Anderson said his team played hard and that they deserved to play more games. The frosh had an unusual member on their team,--a girl. Natalie Ivanoff became the first female in'Adams history to participate on an all-boy team. She proved she was up to the challenge by winning a starting role. 111

K t , Throughout the year the running events proved to be the strongest for both the Varsity and JV men. ln the PIL Varsity City Track Meet at Madison, the mile relay proved to be Adams' strongest event with the men taking fourth place. In individual events, Ernie l-larris captured fourth in the mile run, Jerry Bell snatched second in the 440 preliminaries, and Jodell Bailey took two seconds in the 100 and 220 preliminaries. During the season, because of the small size of the squad, many athletes would each compete in up to four separate events. Coach Cottrell White said he was proud to see the Varsity men work so hard. The strongest events for the jayvees were also in the running events. Jim Benbrook, Darrell Jabin, Chuck Smith and John Pickett all took firsts throug- hout the year. For the girls Karen Gressel, Joy Hansen, Cindy Harding and Cindy Dickinson proved to be the strongest performers throughout the Varsity competition. The freshman had an especially hard time because of their size tonly four participantsl but Steve Wikus, Steve Costanzo and Ammon Verzosa all showed well during competition.
