JV's compile 17-5 record, Frosh fcill This was the year of the sopho- mores as jayvee men's basketball Coach Micheal Grice will tell you after his team finished 17-5 on the year. Quiten Sanders led the team in scoring with a near 20 point average followed by Mark Washington with about a 16 point average. Cedric Love was the top rebounder on the year with Junior Pat Brown giving him lots of help. But Grice also said that teamwork and unselfishness by the players played a big role in the seventeen victories. The frosh, however, had a dismal season record, finishing with only two wins in 13 games. VARSITY WOMENS BASKETBALL TEAM. lfront rowl Niki Cannard, Eula Ceaser, Connie Johnson, Felica Warren, Linda Gill, lback rowl Linda Sims, Women close with 8-8 mork The varsity women's basketball team ended their season with an 8-8 overall record to tie with Madison for third place in the East Division. Sophomore guard Felicia Warren was named to the second team all-city Oregon Journal all-stars and the PIL coaches second team Eastern Division. Warren was the leading scorer throughout the season for the Patriots. Vicki Smith, a senior forward, was given honorable mention in both polls. Coach Vicki Coffey said, We had an outstanding seasong the teams improved a great deal since a year ago. We'lI miss our two graduating players fCeaser and Smithl, but the prospects are very good for next year. Good spirit, determination, and a never-give-up-attitude are all great attributes that made coaching enjoy- able, stated Coach Bill McCluskey of his womens jayvee basketball team. The team ended the season with a respectable 9-8 record. McCluskey stated, because of the experience of Collette Miller and Jan Fiothert and good freshmen, we were able to improve greatly.
