MX II , X If'-I Raymond Trusch IT WAS four years ago that a group of freshmen came aboard the Clipper ship lohn Adams, and prepared for a long voyage As each term ended, the ship entered the harbor, and they watched part of the crew leave while new freshmen took their place Soon they realized they were entering the harbor for their eighth and final time, lt was their turn to say farewell to the ship and the rest of the crew and step out into the world of business, or sign up on their ships of learning. Yes, the Senior class now leaves Adams, but with mixed emotions We are glad We are leaving, for now we may use our knowledge to make our start in life But at the same time our hearts are saddened with the thought of leaving the place where four of the best years of our lives have been spent, Some- time in the future we will have forgotten much that we have learned here in these 'past four yearsX What we will never forget is the lun we've had. Our many friends, class night, the Prom, sen- ior buttons, the thrill of first wear- ing our class rings, and, finally, our graduation exercises will be memories that will always be with us, They are a few of the things that have made school something more than just books, homework, tests, and report cards. We owe our thanks to our Skipper, Mr. Clarke, and to our many fine officers. Without their unstinted patience and coopera- tion, our four year voyage would not have been as smooth sailing as it was. After graduation, we will be on our own to begin turn- ing our dreams into realities. lt will not be easy, We are step- ping out into a world such as few other classes of Adams have ever had to face Today, the problems and mistakes are of our fathers Tomorrow, they will be ours to solve and to amend. What lies ahead in the future? Only God knows. To us it is a challenge. We, the graduating class of Iune, l952, accept this challenge, for we know, we are the future.

Cap and Gown Rosemarie Duggan AS WE stand in line, nervous and ex- cited, memories of the last four years sift themselves through the sands of our minds, and we are suddenly one, all a little tremulous, all suddenly sen- timental about Adams and our many experiences within her walls. A pano- rama of those four years drifts slowly before our eyes and gradually forms itself into a mural. ln the background are the Vague shadows of our freshman year, a year of discoveries, scatter-brained blund- ers, and many, many beginnings. Our sophomore and junior terms stand out more clearly against those rough and dim figures, for these were the times during which we first met Regents, forums, and honors assem- blies. We felt rather like orphans, for we were neither at the top nor the bottom. However, neglected though we may have been, we began to organ- ize our school lives, turning our inter- ests to special fields. Our mural shows us as we worked busily in our many chosen activities. Passing before our eyes are the games, programs, plays, publications, G. O. projects, and our dozens of other varied achievements. The next figures seem a little unim- portant and trivial although they are close to the foreground, for it is here that we are portrayed as the lost and forgotten seventh termers. Expectancy prevailed during this period and made it quite brief. Finally, there is a sharp contrast. The colors and scenes brighten and change greatly. There are scenes de- picting Social Dancing, Senior music, 30 'N .igatlfatff X .:45?i-mth :,m11w 1,l'1 , , . ! f5l1l 17 Cust! Most of these are outlined in blue and White. Then there appears a colorful, rainbow-like spray in the center, representative of that gala night, the Prom. Our closest friends are unrecognizable in their splendor. Gathered around the edges like a flowery border are the ninety-six glorious pages of our yearbook. Suddenly, there is a blur, and then our mural disappears from view. The signal had been given, and we march forward slowly, but somehow confi- dently, to our places. The precious mo- ments of graduation exercises slip by all too quickly, and the band is playing the final number. Tears do not mar our vision, however, as everything is seen in sharp focus once again. The mural has dwindled and becomes, with everything in our past, merely a frame of our dramatic portrait as We rise to face the world's challenge Cap and Gown. xi
