all Kaniega The garrlenfs fragrance this morning in May Has a distinctive odor which leads you astray, For set in a Corner far back in the yard, A dried red eamelia struggles to bloom toward Cod. The moisture and warmth. the air holds so low ls a burden the flower tries not to show. For so rnany years this ground she has held, Steadfast be her roots coming up ever proud. She was never picked for color or beauty But remained erect as is a queengs duty. And now there were young ones just like herself, Seeking roorn in the soil to break through and sproul. She would move her old roots and make room for them For a garden should hold more than one stern. And the dew would still lay on her -velvety leaves, Giving life as it would to a hungry tree. What if a cameliu is lifeless with age, A flower gains beauty with each passing day. Virginia Schnitzlein
