handed nrs wrfe 'n y or ro er s He never gave up He had a fr 'rtrn heart and one nrght n d be n krlled n a frght because he refused t st ,f wn for the c unt A r e head whrch knocked hrm down for the frfth trme had caused a hemorrhage frm had to go out and earn a lrvrng for hrs mother When she dred he was alone He turned to frghtrng to make a lrvrng He had worked hrs way up to ton ghts frght And as the frm rt sounded lrke a death sentence He felt that he was walkrng the last mrle as he went down the arsle Thou sands of people rn the crowded arena shouted hrs name but h scarcely heard them He was won derrng what would happen rf he were hrt by a solrd rrght After the prelrmrnary rnstructrons he came back to hrs corner McCoy was sayrng Forget the letter Krd and watch hrs rrght cross lt has clynamrte rn rt The bell rang and frm went dancrng out to the center of the rrng where Grahm crrcled wear rly on flat feet Grahm was a punch er He was a methodrcal frghter H had a flattened nose close cropped harr and a stubby body wrth broad muscular shoulders and arms H burred hrs head between hrs shoul ders so as to present as small a tar get as possrble He came borrna n wrth three hard left fabs to frm s face whrch momentarrly stopped hrs danc rng He crossed over wrth hrs rraht whrch caught frm hrgh on hrs arm as he warded off the punch and fell for ward rnto a clrnch wh ch let hrm get settled and then he back peddled keeprng away from Grah'n The crowd drdnt lrke rt and told hrm so I5 wrt a serres f boos As 're Carpe ut for tne second round he p shed a left ab rnto Grahms nos whrch made hrm olrnk and followed .rfrth rr rr ht and nt hrm flush rn e fcce Grahm wrth an anrmallrke runt rushed rn lrke an angrx burr and started pourrng those powerful rahts of hrs rnto a body attack on frm The puncnes took therr toll Red welts appeared as rf by agrc where frm had been ht He trred varnly to swung hrs rrght for Grahms head He never heard McCoy s warnrng cry Grahms powerful rrght caught hrm flush on the raw and clown he went The lrghts rn the arena spun crazrly above hrm and a sea of faces swam before hrs dulled eyes He looked up to see a man wav rng hrs arm rn hrs face and speak ng numbers 5 5 7 8 frm got to hrs knees at nrne but he couldnt get up At nrne the bell rang and saved frm McCoy leaped rnto the rrng and helped hrm to hrs corner The smell rng salts cleared hrs head and he sard to McCoy lts true lve got a weak Jaw I havent a chan e The warnrng buzzer sounded and as McCoy clrmbed out of the rrng h flung over hrs shoulder He ure has a terrrfrc rrght but you cant frght hrm Go out there and lay down lrke a dog You havent a chance The bell clanged frtfully and frm now went flat footed to the center of the rrng He hadnt the strength to dance and box prettrly He was Jolted by a left and tagged wrth the rrght agarn He went down for a three count and scrambled to hrs feet Grahm knocked hrm down twrce more but frm had to get to hrs feet He kept away from ' W' Q r one' f g c re.
