n like ri ge ALL things that possess some value are carefully guarded. Thus America. the wealthiest ot nations, has been deemed worthy of an extensive de- fense program. Such preparations however, demand many sacrifices from the American people. The great economic burden is shouldered, in part, by the ordinary working man. But the greatest demand, that of man- power, is shouldered by the American youth. Many of Adams' graduates will be responding to the call in the ap- proaching year. Their first glimpse of the future will be through the eyes oi the army: their first and greatest task -the safeguarding of their country and the preservation of its democratic way of life.
