Remember the t1me just a few weeks before Easter when you boast ed the excluslveness of the new sult you bought last week at Lord and Taylor s How dlsappomted you were on Easter mornmg to fmd a tw1n m the small church you attend And to make matters worse she had red accessorles Dont let 1t bother you though because we just desprte copy cats Have you ever gone for a dnve through the country and there r1ght ln the mdxdle of a beautlful b1g lawn you spy your dream home The home you always sa1d you wanted to l1ve 1n 1f you ever got marrled You declde rlght there and then that you must get marr1ed and l1ve ln a house l1ke that You also draw the concluslon that there can be no other house l1ke 1t m the world and th1s drlve on a few blocks further you dlscover a whole row of houses not qurte as large as your dream house but on the same style By th1s t1me you are so d1s1llus1oned you dec1de that you hate copy cats even worse than spmach Well 1ts just about t1me to draw th1s p1ece of wr1tmg to a close be cause I have to I11'l1Sh copylng Ethels book report before I go shopplng for that adorable blouse just llke Edna wore today Gladys Tmkler NO MATTER where I go or how many people I meet there IS one person I shall always remember Although I really never got to know th1s person from the fmrst moment I saw her I felt sure that I had known her for ever so long I cant tell you for sure how old she was for even though her ha1r was tum mg gray and her eyes were dlmrrung to me she looked young As she held out a small bunch of sweet smellzng vlolets I notzced that her t1ny hand was not at all rough as I had expected but soft and whlte Her black coat was qulte long and bore several neatly sewed patches A dark green hat was pulled tlghtly down on her round face and as the w1nd began to blow a few strands of her gray ha1r became undone and waved 1n the Wlnd As the people hurned past her she stood on her comer and asked ln a vo1ce so soft 1t was almost drowned out by the newsboys clamour of head l1nes Buy my flowers? Flower mls ter? As I reached the edge of the crowd and was wlthm talkmg dlSICII1C9 of her she tumed and smlled at me In that moment the tall bulldmgs seemed to fade 11'1tO hundreds of cathedrals and the deafemng street nolses became a symphony Here m the mldst of lt all wars th1s httle old lady wxth a sm1le on her face whlch seemed to say Hel lo there and wlth a nod of her head See you agam some day Wrth that the symphony ended The cathedrals soon became towermg sky scrapers and as I tumed and walked away the last thmg I heard was Flowers buy my fresh flowers?
