Play Director The Art and Music Departments allow students to pursue their Interests In these areas. A new course In humanities Is offered to freshmen this year, In which they study the concepts of the fine Arts All freshmen and choir members take a chorus class which practices the techniques of singing. Other students participate in the orchestra and band organizations which play at football and basketball games as well as at special concerts. The art courses are varied enough to give students a choice in the type of class they want. These classes Include such activities as drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics Students are given the opportunity to cultivate their special talents through the courses available at Adams Local and state music contests enable students to compete with others for special ratings. The courses in health and physical eijucation attempt to make the student aware of the importance of sound physical growth Through vigorous activities in gym class, he improves his strength, agility, and coordination by participating in athletic games and exercise In Health class, each student ac- quires the principles of hygiene which he uses to insure the maintenance of his health. The two courses are interrelated, and consequently both departments work together in close harmony The instructors of both subjects realize the importance of giving the student solid foundations for achieving a total health, by using both his body and his mind. Thus, by taking these two courses, the students progress both physically and mentally in his knowledge of health. Eiercises are a basic part of girls ' physical education classes. fi.
