Spanish students write sentences for the class to inspect. Nations and Cultures The purpose of our language courses is to give the students knowledge of foreign peoples and their cultures. This department, under Mrs. Gadomski, includes the study of German, Latin, Spanish, and French. While German, Latin, and Spanish are four year courses, French is offered as a five year course for those students who studied it prior to high school. On the advanced level, French is mostly a study of French literature. In the three modern languages, the first year stresses oral understanding, while the more advanced classes go on to study the country, customs, and literature. In contrast to these modern languages, the first year class of the classical language is a study of the structure of the Latin language while translating short stories about Rome. The students of the second year class learn the ancient Roman and Greek mythology along with their translations. During the last two years of Latin, the course involves a translation of major Roman works of literature. To further the students ' interest in language study, there are opportunities for them to study abroad in Spain, France, or Germany. Living in the country greatly increases the person ' s ability to speak the language. Study opportunities in Rome are now available also Mr. Steinke listens to pronunciation in tiis German class.

Theories, Postulates, Our Mathematics Department, under the guidance of Mr. Weir, establishes a means of expressing relationships and of performing useful and necessary computations Freshmen take high school arithmetic or elementary algebra, which provide a basis for developing logical thinking. Then he is given the opportunity to study plane and solid geometry, which deal with combining ideas of size and shape. The junior studies both intermediate algebra and trigonometry, furnishing him with a more detailed knowledge of numbers and how to work with them For the most part, the fourth year student is taught analytical geometry, while others qualifying for the advanced program are introduced to calculus, the mathematics of change and motion. Through the study of these subjects, the students gain not only mathematical knowledge, but also a foundation tor science. M Coar will have to Ihmk about this one.
