Perhaps it was not quite so roug.. - the trip to California was for the l849'ers seeking gold, but our T9-49'ers had exams to wrestle with that were as ferocious as any Indian band. The first lap of our iourney was very be- wildering. Like lost little sheep, we found our rooms, met our new teachers, and struggled with our locker combinations. We became initiated to high school life when we took part in the all-school play, Straw Hat. We Saw the first Adams' Eve and some were lucky enough to take part in the wonderful Ka- tinka. And the wagon wheels rolled along-- September 1947, and we were upper- classmen - we were a real part of Adams now. We took our place in the building of traditions at John Adams. Our class presented the first cafe - the Stardust Cafe, which was a huge success. We also gave the Golddust Cafe, our class party, which will forever be a fond memory in our trip through school. We were thrilled and chilled by Crime At Blos- soms. And the wagon wheels rolled along-- enced. We were s.,..ioi- .O D we were waiting for. Right oft i.. .ve walked off with fifteen of the twenty-one leads in Captain Jinks. We'll never forget this last school play - It was swell. We were initiated to the Soci life of current events. The most popular saying on Monday morning was, Let's exchange notes. Betty Granat became Tower Editor and put out an excellent paper. Susie Schwier headed the Album. Our cheerleaders got new uniforms and they sure did look nice. We elected our Senior Class Officers- Presi- dent, Joe Howell, Vice-President, Bob Manby: Secretary, Connie Hudson: and Treasurer, Artie Grant. Also there was our Senior Cabinet- Pat Haley, Ona Apelgreen, Jim McClusky, Robert Zenzinger, Betty Granat, and Bob Miller. Susie Schwier won the D.A.R. Citizen- ship Award - Dave Hyde was elected football captain-President Truman visited our fair city -We picked our colleges and began tak- ing scholarship tests.
